김선주는 건축을 기반으로 도시와 자연의 교차점을 탐구하는 도시연구자이자 건축가이다. 한국예술종합학교에서 건축과 학사, 취리히 연방공과대학 (ETH)에서 건축학 석사를 받았다. 식물, 동물의 비인간 존재와 다종생물의 관점에서 현재의 도시와 건축, 자연의 경계를 질문하는 작업을 하고 있다. 도시에서 자생하는 식물에 초점을 맞춰 도시를 우리 시대의 변화하는 자연의 장소로 이해하고 디자인하는 방법에 대한 연구를 진행해 왔으며, 취리히 건축 센터 (ZAZ), 서울 도시건축비엔날레, 서울 도시건축전시관의 전시에 참여하였다.국내외 건축설계사무실에서 쌓은 실무경력을 바탕으로  2023년 스튜디오 시너반을 설립, 실무와 연구활동을 연계하여, 건축, 조경, 전시, 출판 등 다양한 프로젝트를 진행하고 있다. 

Seonju Kim works in the field of architecture and urban research, with a focus on exploring the intersection between the built environment and nature. She received a master’s degree from Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (ETH Zurich) and a bachelor’s degree from Korea National University of Arts, both in the field of architecture. Through the lens of multi-species entities and non-human perspectives, her works question the boundaries and interconnectedness of cities, architecture, and nature. Her recent research centers on spontaneous urban flora, utilizing it as a method to understand and design contemporary cities as places of nature. She has participated in exhibitions at the Zurich Architecture Center (ZAZ), Seoul Biennale of Architecture and Urbanism, and the Seoul Hall of Urbanism & Architecture. She runs Studio Synurban, where she actively integrates research and design practice into architectural projects, landscape design, and exhibitions.
